Edward Brooke and Barbara Walters

Barbara Walters in her new book "Auditions" admits to having an affair with Senator Edward Brooke. Edward Brooke was a Republican Senator from Massachusetts. Brooke was the first black Senator in the United States Senate since the late 1800s, during Reconstruction.

In Auditions, Barbara Walters describes this relationship in a lot of detail. It turns out that Brooke's wife found out about this relationship and nearly ended Walters' career as a journalist. Brooke's wife threatened to expose the affair to the National Inquirer. This incident would have been devastating for Edward Brooke and Barbara Walters.

While this is a three decade old story, this is sure to make headline news for the next week. This story has the makings of everything the news loves to cover. It involves one of their own, Barbara Walters, a cheating Republican, Edward Brooke, and sex. You can bet that Edward Brooke does not need this type of news event affecting him three decades later.
