Shayne Dahl Lamas

The season finale of The Bachelor was last night. America eagerly waited to find out who Matt Grant would choose to give the final rose to. After the sorting through 25 women, Matt Grant proposed to Shayne Dahl Lamas.

Matt Grant had to choose between Shayne Lamas and Chelsea Wanstrath. I really thought that Grant would be better off with Chelsea Wanstrath, but it was clear throughout The Bachelor that Grant was infatuated with Shayne Dahl Lamas.

Shayne Dahl Lamas was Matt's Hollywood blonde bombshell. I think that in the end Shayne epitomized Matt's view of a Hollywood starlet. Only time will tell whether Matt Grant and Shayne Dahl Lamas will actually get married and live happily ever after.

George McGovern Asks Hillary Clinton To Quit

George McGovern today came out and asked Hillary Clinton to drop out of the Democratic presidential primary. George McGovern was an early support of Hillary Clinton for President. Despite his early endorsement, McGovern has now endorsed Barrack Obama.

Yesterday's primaries in North Carolina and Indiana might have finally decided the Democratic nomination. It is almost mathematically impossible for Clinton to catch up in pledged delegates now. In order for her to win the nomination, she would have to convince the super delegates to vote against the will of the electorate.

I believe that George McGovern knows that this would be devastating for the Democratic Party.

Eight Belles Kentucky Derby

The sport of horse racing suffered another tragedy yesterday at the Kentucky Derby. Eight Belles, a filly, came in second in the horse race, but then collapsed. The poor horse suffered from two broken ankles which is a devastating injury for a horse. Due to this injury, Eight Belles had to be put to sleep. Her wounds were mortal.

With the tragedy of Barbaro still in peoples' minds this is a huge tragedy for horse racing. It is heartbreaking to think about these horses training all their lives for this big race and then to kill themselves trying to win it.

If one thing comes out of this tragedy, I hope that horse racing and veterinarians progress in their medical treatment and prevention for these types of injuries. Hopefully, technology will progress to the point that these injuries can be avoided. Eight Belles dies trying to win the Kentucky Derby. I hope this is the last such death. America will be thinking of you Eight Belles. Rest in peace.

Edward Brooke and Barbara Walters

Barbara Walters in her new book "Auditions" admits to having an affair with Senator Edward Brooke. Edward Brooke was a Republican Senator from Massachusetts. Brooke was the first black Senator in the United States Senate since the late 1800s, during Reconstruction.

In Auditions, Barbara Walters describes this relationship in a lot of detail. It turns out that Brooke's wife found out about this relationship and nearly ended Walters' career as a journalist. Brooke's wife threatened to expose the affair to the National Inquirer. This incident would have been devastating for Edward Brooke and Barbara Walters.

While this is a three decade old story, this is sure to make headline news for the next week. This story has the makings of everything the news loves to cover. It involves one of their own, Barbara Walters, a cheating Republican, Edward Brooke, and sex. You can bet that Edward Brooke does not need this type of news event affecting him three decades later.
